hey y'all. long time not chat. sorry i start so many of my posts like that. lately i've been trying to step away from social media for a hot minute so i can focus on what's really important in preparation for my mission. man has it been good, so refreshing and awesome. and even more so eye opening. i wasted so much time scrolling through friends, family and loved ones that i care so much about (not even just instagram or facebook friends that i didn't really know they just seemed cool i got rid of those long ago). looking at that 10% of their lives through that square we take so much time perfecting. i want to see the other 90%. the hard days, so i can stop by and say hi. the rough times, so i can share words of encouragement. the sad days, where i can be a shoulder to cry on. I want to really know what's going on in your life, but we don't show that through social media. we can't it's not acceptable. we can't be vulnerable. well guess what guys...

God's timing is perfect, mysterious, hard, but perfect. Yesterday at church our Stake President was late so to fill time Bishop talked about a few people in the ward that were preparing for missions and called me out to bare my testimony. Which was a major flashback to Suncrest ward when Bishop Shields would do that to me. But it was great cause that's gonna be exactly what happens on the mission. But anyways when President finally got to our ward. We got the news that the ward boundaries changed, and that Suncrest wasn't in the Fort Canyon Ward anymore. As soon as that happened there were tears. The girl who started it all Honestly Fort Canyon has become family to me. For the whole first summer I sat alone at church in the back because everyone was so intimidating, they all knew each other, went to school together and lived in Alpine. honestly have had the best year ever. on January 4th I decided that 2017 was going to be my year of travel and it was. I went to India in May, Vietnam in August, Banff in October, Mexico in November and still deciding on where I'm going to spend the New Year. I'm so excited for the changes that are happening in my life. This year has been so good and so not. I've had a lot of bad news texts, calls, and talks. But all in all yesterday was my favorite day because December 19, 2017 at approximately 7:00 pm I submitted my LDS mission papers. I am going on a mission y'all. I really don't know what to expect now. It's just a waiting game until my call comes. and then i'll probably tell you that that's the best day of the year cause I'll finally know where I am going to spend my next 18 months. sorry family. its been a minute. life has been so busy. work, school and squad. it's a busy life and trying to balance it all has been so hard. honestly everyone tells us college students to: -get good grades -go to class -pay attention in class -have a job -have a social life -be healthy -be active at church -get enough sleep -date -go to the temple -volunteer -have hobbies but do we all really have time for it? no I can say I do not. Lately I have been slacking in the get good grades, pay attention in class, be healthy, get enough sleep, date, go to the temple and have hobbies. I don't have time for it because I work 30-40 hours a week, I go to school full time, and I hang out with my friends. but on top of that I have to complete 40 hours of clinical hours for 1 class, 25 hours for another and 10 for another. its ridiculous. but i only have one year left. that's why i haven't written. but to update you a little bit. squad is still so great, love ...

Can I just say that I am the luckiest girl in the world? Yesterday was a dream, it was the best day honestly. Started out by sleeping in because I didn't have work! (HOLLA) then I went to class (NOT holla) but it wasn't too bad. After class I got to go shopping for Valentine's dance decorations. Then headed to the church to set up for the dance which was a total dud but ya know I had a good time and I got to dance with Dal so who even cares! After that Danny, Lyss and I caught the last 2 minutes of Allie's game, but it's fine cause we got to see Al and cute T and Zo! After that we went to get Mad's and headed up to the boys game WHERE THEY KILLED IT. I am pretty sure  Danny had 4 goals and Mads had 3! Like what? so it's been a hot minute since I've blogged. but i had finals  haha k just kidding that's not the reason I have been hanging out with the squad every second of my life so maybe y'all wanna know about the squad. so squad member #1 aka my favorite person ever. ALLIE HALE she really is the greatest example in my life. I met her at YUBA she is quite the character she had to ask a few guys I was going on dates with about me to make sure I was cool enough to hang out with her. BUT our friendship didn't start until I texted her if she was free and to come hang out. Ever since then we've hung out almost everyday. Especially these past few days I've been Allie's sidekick at work and on all of her errands. She just tells me when we are leavin and I'm there. We planned it perfectly one weekend. a little bit ago i got to go down to gunnison to a cabin with a few of my friends (before the cabin most of us were strangers with time that changed!) Friday boy kenna and i drove down to gunnison we were the shoppers and got all the food, which was great cause ya know we got some donuts for us... best idea ever good job ken!  we got to gunnison and the troops rallied at boy's house and finally after an hour or so we all head out to the cabin! it had snowed just a few days before so the roads were pretty snowy but not too bad! we made it with very minimal reversing cause we didn't have traction. the first night was games games games games games. literally so many games and so much virtual reality! Which is hilarious by the way! today november 6th begins a new chapter in my book i can't reread the last chapter anymore. i have turned a page and am ready to get writing this chapter is my "gospel chapter" today i'm starting the book of mormon i invite anyone reading this blog to also start reading it with me. my goal is at least 1 chapter a day, but hopefully more! it is also going to be a change of heart chapter. i haven't always been the most positive person and i have been really hard on myself in the past. but that changes. because... whatever happens never, ever, give up. that quote is my life right now. i'm ready for this change. and embracing it with an open heart. i want as many of you to join me as possible. i need people to hold me accountable for my goals. will you help? text me, message me or comment if you are in! i'm excited to see how this goes and am excited for you to join me. xoxo jordie

Life as of late has been a lot of work, school and work. not the funnest but last night was pretty awesome.  IT WAS HALLOWEEN OBVIOUSLY so I went to work then went to class. got my costume then got ready. the ward was having FHE down in Orem at Classic Skate it was such a blast because guess who came. for those of you in the ward you should get this.  ALLIE HALE she hasn't come to our ward in a few weeks we just couldn't handle it so we brought FHE to her in Orem! haha kidding but she was there and I was so happy because I miss her! after that i headed over to insomnia which was hot and gross and a lot of fun. i met up with ash the cutest deer around, and some of her friends!  they were such a blast.  after a little while i ran into the b11 boys  <----they def aren't the b11 boys anymore. but i ran into the snow boys and danced with them for a little.  it was good to catch up with them for a little  i miss them ...

these last few months have been pure heck to put it simply. being a young adult is one of the worst things ever. going to school while having to work to pay for school, then trying to fulfill church callings and have a social and dating life is actually impossible.  I have met some pretty amazing people these last few months and i am so happy to have so many new friendships! but there have also been a few old and new that are just added stress in my life. guys can i just say that those who say dating is a game, are obviously not dating the right people. dating shouldn't be a game, you shouldn't have to guess if they like you, if they don't, if they ever will again or if you're just wasting your time. it's the worst.  if you like someone TELL THEM. if you don't like someone DON'T LEAD THEM ON. that is the worst thing you can do to someone, is give them false hope. If you want to still be friends, great be friends just don't be a jerk about it...

so sorry its been a long time friends. but school started, nannying started and I am busier than ever. wanna hear about my life? great lets get started. well my fam is down to 1 car. the saturn died for good on me when i was on my way to take a test for one of my classes.. So that's awesome right? now we have 1 car where my dad needs to get to work, i need to get to work, school, get to Eden's for YMAD stuff and my internship, my mom needs to get to work and my brothers need to get to school all at different times. It's a joy honestly it is. Right now I literally have 0$ in my bank account because I had to pay tuition which is $6,000 at the U for me. Now I am gonna have to take out a loan for a car because i need one to get to my million places that my family now can't help with because our schedules suck. Which is stressing me out. my summertime is coming to an end. summer 2016 wasn't as exciting as i hoped it would be. but i definitely didn't stay at home the whole summer (i house/baby/dog sat so i stayed at other people's houses STAYCATIONS) but it was still way fun. I met a whole bunch of people. who are sadly leaving me in just a few days to move back to Provo/Orem for school. A few are staying but not very many! :( This is why I don't like making friends, they all move away and then i have to make new friends, but all i wanna do is hang out with the old friends, but when i do make new friends it's too late and the new friends become old friends. wow ok i'm done. k. I finally did something fun! Last weekend.. so ya know its a little late but its fine right? so my YSA (Young Single Adults) Ward took an overnight trip to Yuba lake, and I decided I should probably get to know some people in my ward because I am going to be with them for awhile. I invited Samantha to come with me, and thankfully she said yes and came. We started the trip off by getting treats cause who can survive a camping trip without treats? After we got our treats, we headed over to the church where it was all about our waivers (no joke 20 minutes of make sure you have your waiver filled out) (for a good reason, just reminds me a little of passports guys let me see your passports! @ my shaanti family) we finally were headed out around 5 o'clock. Which made me want to do more crafting, decorating and creating. I still have a strong desire to decorate rooms/houses/parties, make banners, watercolor and so much more. yikes. this is embarassing. I FORGOT I HAD A BLOG. its been a real struggle finding a minute to myself because this summer I am a headguard 40 hours, a swim teacher 10+ hours, a babysitter at least 10 hours, and house cleaner about 5 hours a week, church for 3, working out at least 7, walking to/from work is at least 3 hours, sleeping for 8 hours each night. That leave me 34 hours. I still have to shower, eat, get ready, do laundry, keep my room clean, do chores, etc. in that time so it comes down to about 24 hours a week that i have to myself. by that time i am exhausted and just get in bed anyways! This summer is mad crazy. But last week I got to go disco skating with my friend Katelyn from down in Ephraim. And I also go to go country dancing with Atalee! :) They were both super fun and I LOVED it, So i'm excited to make that like a weekly thing (just ask Chris Brown - I need all the help I can get with dancing, cause I haven't gone in forever since Josh left on his ...

ok so its been awhile (i feel like I've started every post like this lately) I promise I will be better as soon as my schedule is normal again! This summer I have -decorated my room - which looks bomb just in case you were wondering -done odd jobs for extra money before the pool opens -babysat the cutest kids -taken an LGI class to be able to teach our newbie lifeguards -pass an LGI class -started teaching the Lifeguard class this week -watched a movie up the canyon in the woods -played some sand volleyball -had a bonfire -went to B-dubs for 60 cent wings (best summer tradition) -saw cookie! (ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS SO FAR) There isn't much going on right now because I have my lifeguard class every night so I can't really hang out because by the end of it I am exhausted! But next week is orientation so it will be about the same hours so the week after that the pool is open and I'll have regular hours so then the real summer partying can happen! :) x...

k. there have been a few things going on that haven't really been working in my favor. But right now i am over that and am ready to start over. I am never going to forget what happened, people who have changed my life and my best friends. But a new start is really looking good right now because I am taking a big step in my life in a few months. I start my Recreational Therapy degree and in just under 2 years I will most likely be a University of Utah graduate, and have a job in the real world. I'll be 21 and graduated as a Recreational Therapist (hopefully) ready to take on the world one step at a time. This past year at snow has taught me so many things about relationships, boys, friends, and myself and I couldn't be more thankful for the people in my life. I honestly don't know where I would be if I hadn't spent 8 months with Tayten, or if HaziB hadn't taken Social Work with me, or if I hadn't gone to India a second time which is what sparked my interest...

k. so this week is graduation. and i'm realizing i have no one to sit by. none of my close friends are graduating with me, and everyone is going to be at home so they won't even be there for after. everyone is super busy this week, so they don't even wanna go on adventures with me on my last week. Super depressing huh? I know. so i don't really know what i'm gonna do this week. I am moving home this friday then coming back down Thursday with my mom for my last final, and to hang out before graduation. you know how growing up sucks, well it sucks even more when your friends don't have to yet and they will all be at snow again next year. well.. K. so um... hi my name is jordyn standage and i suck at keeping my blog up to date. quite a bit has happened since I have blogged last! so here is the scoop! -I got accepted to the U starting in the fall so #goutes -I graduate Snow in 24 days (Holy crap i didn't realize it was so soon until i counted the days) -I AM LEADING AN EXPEDITION TO INDIA -Spring Break in Draper was chill and relaxing && -Tayt gets hypnotized really easy now let me explain! I am pretty sure I already told you I got accepted to the U, but as of now I am a Parks, Recreation and Tourism (PRT) major with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy (RT). I am almost signed up for my classes and will be done in 2 years or less, can't wait! :) My advisor is awesome and so are my soon to be teachers. So let's get this school thing done!
